Evaluation of SATCP Matching Grants and Business Plan Competition Underway

The evaluation process for the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project (SATCP) Matching Grants (MG) and Business Plan Competition (BPC) has officially commenced, marking a significant step toward enhancing regional trade in the Nacala and Beira Corridors.

marking a significant step toward enhancing regional trade in the Nacala and Beira Corridors.

An ad hoc Evaluation Committee completed the initial assessment of applications in February
2025, with shortlisted candidates progressing to the technical evaluation stage, which began on 18th March 2025.

In regards to the Matching Grants, applications that pass the technical evaluation will advance to the investment evaluation stage, where shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit full
proposals.

In the Business Plan Competition, shortlisted applications will proceed to the pitch evaluation
stage, followed by the investment evaluation stage.

The selection of final Matching Grants full proposals for funding, announcement of awardees,
and disbursement of grants is scheduled for June 2025. Applicants will receive formal
communication detailing the reasons for their success or failure, next steps, and contact
information.

Funded by the World Bank, the SATCP Matching Grants and Business Plan Competition aim to
boost regional trade and economic connectivity. A total of US$6 million has been allocated to
support successful business proposals under the two initiatives.

The SATCP project is designed to strengthen trade networks and foster economic development
in the Nacala and Beira Corridors. By supporting innovative business proposals, the initiative
aims to create sustainable growth opportunities and enhance regional integration.
